News: NSCN (I-M) man held
|
SHILLONG, SEPT 4:Acting on specific information, troops of 10 Bn BSF deployed in Golaghat district of Assam launched a special operation and apprehended an NSCN (I-M) arms dealer while he was disembarking from Lumding Tinsukia passenger train at Barpathar Railway station The apprehended was identified as Nick Sumi, (21 yrs), son of Toshiho Sumi, a resident of Supply Colony, PWD, Dimapur. One 9mm pistol, one magazine and three live rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession. During preliminary interrogation, the activist confessed to working for NSCN (I-M) as an arms dealer. He was handed over to police, according to sources.

News: Aspiring army youth assaulted by ‘NSCN K’ cadres at Phek
|
Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): Four youth were assaulted by some miscreants reported to be cadres of “NSCN K” faction on August 29 last in Phek town. The four victims – Ayao Konyak, Gopoh Konyak, Longna Konyak and Yanpong Konyak in a press release stated that they were in Phek town for the recent Army Recruitment Rally. The “NSCN K” cadres who told them they were on duty assaulted them physically and verbally “for no reason or rhyme”. They also added that the cadres took away a mobile phone and some cash from them.

News: NPMHR flays valley militants
|
DIMAPUR, SEPT 3 (NPN): Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights has accused valley-based militants of targeting Naga villagers for land grab citing the sequence of events leading to the “eviction warning” allegedly given by the KCP (MC) group to Mapao Khullen villagers under Senapati District from the area or to face death.
NPMHR Press Liaison has questioned whether the warning given was not part of the larger plot of non-tribals to grab the land of tribals in Manipur. The NPMHR disclosed that its members visited the village on Friday to record the events that occurred there on August 31 when suspected activists of the KCP (MC) group physically assaulted more than 30 males during the course of interrogating the villagers to identify “police informers” in the village.

With the birth of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) in February 2008, the mandate of the Naga people has been to call with urgency for a “Meeting of the Highest Level Leaders, at the Earliest.” This was resolved at the Sumi Baptist Church, Dimapur, on September 25, 2008, by 47 organizations, followed by the “Naga Peace Convention”, at Kohima local Ground, February 22, 2009, attested by 45 organizations; and at Saramati Hotel, Dimapur, August 25, 2009, reaffirmed by 46 organizations. Therefore, to “Consummate the Naga Reconciliation” the FNR is requesting all Christian organizations and their Churches and prayer centers to mark September 12, 2010, and take a moment of prayer time in your respective Worship/Mass/Vesper services the following prayer items:

News: Naga Reconciliation: Special Prayers on September 12

Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): All Baptist churches in Nagaland are appealed to hold special prayers on Sunday, September 12, for the ongoing process of reconciliation in Nagaland as well as for the efforts of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation. The Nagaland Baptist Church Council issued a letter of appeal addressed to all secretaries of church today. “As you are aware, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation has been spearheading initiatives for reconciliation amongst the different Naga political groups for some time now.

News: Nobody should misuse Covenant of Reconciliation: GPRN/NSCN

Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): ‘Kilonser’ of the GPRN/NSCN Y. Wangtin Naga has stated that “Peace is a key for reconciliation and ultimate unification among the Nagas, be it national workers or overground” and that “peace is the only tool to do away with hatred, jealousy, vengeance and distrust”. Stating this in a press note, Wangtin stated that “the peace in our hands is a gift of God and all must know how to use it for national salvation” besides “only peace can build our broken homes”. The ‘kilonser’ also pointed out that the covenant of reconciliation signed by the three top leaders was “a national property and nobody should misuse it”.

DIMAPUR, AUG 31 (NPN):Responding to GPRN/NSCN’s demand for names involved in the August 26 killing incident at Tizit, the NSCN (I-M) said that the “brutal murder” of “Major’ Ngachonmi was a ploy to divert and distract the attention of the people but maintained that would, nevertheless, condone the heinous crime committed by them. “Why the crime was committed by the GPRN/NSCN it is ridiculous to charged and kilonser who have only stated nothing but the reported facts of the incident.

News: GPRN/NSCN rebuts NSCN(I-M)

DIMAPUR, AUG 29 (NPN):GPRN/NSCN MIP Sunday rubbished the allegations made by NSCN (I-M) ‘kilonser’ V. Horam that it was involved in the killing of “major” Ngachonmi at Namsa, Tizit. Dragging its name in the killing was “utterly disgusting” and “absurd” it stated.
MIP, GPRN/NSCN in a press release said Horam, as a Christian had devalued himself miserably by indulging in an inconceivable lie and said such outrageous accusations could only originate from Hebron camp and from people like him who have nothing but destructive policies. The public in the area were the witnesses and the Assam rifles have clarified that they fired in self defense which killed the victim, MIP stated.

News: NSCN (I-M) responds to AR says CF groundrules violated
|
DIMAPUR, AUG 29 (NPN): Reacting to the press statements of the Assam Rifles that appeared in the local dailies, the NSCN(I-M) has quoted some of the points in the AR statements such as: That one NSCN(I-M) cadre was killed and five others apprehended during ‘Operation Namsa’ ; accusing the NSCN(I-M) of violating the cease fire ground rules ; that when surrounded by the AR, the NSCN(I-M)cadres inside the Namsa camp ran away besides charging the latter of using ‘unparliamentary language’.

News: Minor situation near Merapani
|
DIMAPUR, AUG 28: A scuffle between a local and a non-local on Friday evening triggered a minor situation on the Assam-Nagaland border near Merapani with some Naga miscreants reportedly setting ablaze a house at Doyalpur Mikirbasti under Assam’s Golaghat district.
When contacted over phone, ADC Bhandari A. Robin Lotha informed that the incident took place around 6-7 pm on Saturday, August 27, wherein a Naga boy was beaten up by a member of the other party, reported to be an Adivasi. In retaliation, the Naga boys had gone in search of the culprit but not finding him at home had set the house on fire, he said.
